2014 and 2016 Michigan DNR MISg Grants
In 2014, and again in 2016, the Marquette County Conservation District, in working with the Lake to Lake Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (L2L CISMA), was awarded the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. These grants each allowed for the management and removal of top priority invasive species across the L2L CISMA coverage area, as well as provide funding for our volunteer summer internship program for the 2015 and 2016 field seasons in partnership with Alger County Conservation District. Each of these grants includes a two-year project timeline, taking the 2016 award into 2018 for hands-on projects. Because of these grants, we are able to offer some assistance to landowners with invasive species removal and management, as well as provide additional resources at no cost to the citizens of Marquette County.
